Membership Subscriptions
Membership Options
We offer memberships for both Adults (18+) and Junior (<18) paddlers.
Junior paddlers are welcome to join as individuals - there is no need for them to be associated with an Adult member. We will require details of their guardian(s) as a contact for club communications, safeguarding and payments.
Discounts
Distance membership is a discounted membership for those living more than 40 miles from the club.
We offer a half-price Family membership for each additional member living in the same household and paying collectively. Please ensure that the existing member is named as the payment contact when registering new family members.
If you have recently attended a taster session or training course at MCC, please provide details on the membership form and we will apply an introductory discount of £10 to your first year's subscription.
PaddleUK Affiliation
PaddleUK members must provide their membership number and expiry date when registering with the club.
Our club membership covers public liability insurance and river access for non-members of PaddleUK. We would recommend that regular paddlers consider joining PaddleUK to access the full range of benefits on offer.
Current Subscription Fees
The membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
There is a discounted rate for new members joining between July and November. From mid-November, full membership rates apply and the membership includes the following year.
| Membership Type | Full Year (join b/w 17th Nov & 3rd July) | Part Year (join b/w 4th July & 16th Nov) |

| Adult (DISTANCE) | £14.50 | £12 |
| Junior (FULL) | £15 | £13 |
| Junior (FAMILY) | £7.50 | (not applicable) |
Marlins Fees (Slalom Juniors)
In addition to the club junior membership subscription, there is an annual charge that covers all Marlins training sessions (both on-site and off-site), boat and equipment hire. Please note that all our coaches are volunteers and we aim to keep costs as accessible as possible.
As slalom is a competitive sport, we are keen to encourage active racing amongst our junior members - the different Marlins Tiers reflect the level of commitment expected:
| Tier | Annual Fees | Commitment | Boat & Equipment | Weekly Sessions | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 - Racing (Own Equipment) | £0 | At least 6 races per year | Own boat & equipment (club C1 is fine). Boat may be stored in MCC boathouse at no extra cost. | Summer & Winter | Members are encouraged to participate in the PaddleUK Canoe Slalom talent programme if eligible. |
| Tier 2 - Racing (Club Equipment) | £80 | At least 6 races per year | Sole use of allocated club boat & equipment, with unlimited use both on- and off-site. | Summer & Winter | Members are encouraged to participate in the PaddleUK Canoe Slalom talent programme if eligible. |
| Tier 3 - Recreational (Club Equipment) | £80 | Racing is encouraged (it's fun!) but there is no minimum requirement | Club boat & equipment for use in club sessions (and races off-site as needed). | Summer | We aim to provide the same boat each session but this can not be guaranteed. |
